So... Our little baby Sarah turns 16 this coming Tuesday 22-JUL and what she really wanted to do as a celebration was have her close circle of friends over for a special meal and a 'Girly night in'. (Well... what she actually wanted was a full-on house party but we 'compromised'!!)
We booked 'The Italian' for them, a fabulous restaurant in Burscough and shopped in some nibbles, blew up airbeds, dug out pillows, quilts, sleeping bags, and stuff... Linda took some baloons to the restaurant to decorate the table then Linda, Katie and I got out of the way for a couple of hours while they all got ready. So here are the girls, only one missing from these pictures is Jenny who was at the 'Saints' match watching her beloved rugby team and she joined us all later in the evening at home.
Left to right (above) we have Josie, Sarah, Beth, Caff, Sam and P.K. (or 'Pik' (actually her name is Helen but you know how it is...)).
The girls all got dressed up and looked stunning as they pottered off along Red Cat Lane to the village and got 'beeped' at by a passing motorist, which of course they loved! What I could not get my head around was the sight of 6 girls squeezed into our tiny bathroom at once while they did their make up, it was like those 1970's "How many people can fit into a phone box" things.
The prioprietor of 'The Italian' really looked after the girls and they ate considerably (his words, not mine) including Pizza, Pasta, Breads, Chocolate Fondue and Brownies. On the way home it poured with rain, well.. there's a suprise... in Burscough?!! I did send a txt and offer to pick them up but no, they much prefered to steal an umbrella from the restaurant which I of course then had to return, in the rain. Katie, Linda and I were banished to 'The Ship Inn' on the canal for our dinner 'cos it was a girls only night and they both felt sorry for me. Here's Sarah with her little sister Katie
Sarah said that they were up until "about 04:00" but Linda and I managed to sleep through any noise. When we came down this morning there were bodies everywhere, on the airbed, on the floor, on the couches, in the plant pots, on the bookshelves... So we turned our hand to feeding the 5000 and made everyone toast and bacon rolls, 36 rashers!!, 12 large barmcakes!!, all that on top of last night's meals, two VERY large boxes of Maltesers, a 24 bag pack of Doritos, several litres of lemonade and a couple of bottles of wine (well... they're good girls). Now they're all sitting watching a film, in their PJ's, curtains still closed, eating more chocolate...
Thought I'd close with this picture of Sarah and Linda. Just to show you the size difference. Look how Sarah is stooped over, and what you can't see is that Linda is standing on a stool ;-)
